Position: Room Leader
Status: Permanent Full time (38 hrs p/w)
Salary: $78,822.34 (inclusive of all allowances/loadings), plus super
Qualification: Diploma in ECEC/ACECQA approved equivalent
Location: One Tree Derby Children’s Service, Derby, WA 6728
  
One Tree is a national not for profit offering early childhood education, out of school hours care, community services, registered early childhood training, and professional support. Our remote services are in some of Australia’s most hard to reach underserviced locations. It takes a special kind of person to work in these services, the kind of person who wants to make a difference.

Under the shade of boab trees sits One Tree Derby Children’s Service in the Kimberley region of Western Australia. This service is very connected to the Derby community and school, taking part in local festivals and providing a school readiness program in the final term. You’ll join a service that offers a nursery, toddlers, and kindy room. Along with out of school hours care and vacation care.

Requirements

  • Be eligible to work in Australia and willing to relocate to Derby
  • Minimum of 1 year’s experience in similar role
  • Diploma in early childhood education/ACECQA approved equivalent
  • Current WA Working with Children Card
  • Current National Police Clearance (within 6 months)

What you’ll do

  • Strong leadership and team management skills
  • Deep understanding of the EYLF and NQS
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with children, families, and team members
  • Develop and implement educational programs tailored to children’s interests, strengths, and needs.
  • Experience in observation, documentation, and reflection to improve learning outcomes
    Adaptability and flexibility in responding to changing needs and challenges in the room
  • Strong organisational skills, ensuring smooth daily operations and effective time management
  • Commitment to continuous professional development and staying updated on industry trends and best practices
  • Create a safe, inclusive, and nurturing environment that supports the emotional and developmental needs of all children
  • Conflict resolution and problem-solving skills to manage challenges calmly and effectively
