The Position

This permanent, full-time role is responsible the day-to-day operations of the Pinakarra Program and its staff, with support from Operations and Corporate Governance Manager. The program is a culturally appropriate, locally designed service for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander (ATSI) clients in the Broome region.  This role is vital to program delivery and supports the team to function at its best. The Pinakarra Team Leader is tasked with fostering a supportive and encouraging working environment, ensuring we meet our service obligations, which aim to prepare ATSI participants for entry into school, training or employment.

Essential Criteria:

  1. Minimum of a Certificate III or higher qualification from a nationally recognized course in one of the following fields:  community services, counselling, psychology, social work, mental health, youth work, Indigenous studies or a related area OR Minimum of three years’ experience working in a similar field.
  2. Demonstrated experience in managing and leading diverse teams.
  3. Strong knowledge of computer systems required to record data including data bases, excel spreadsheet and word documents.
  4. Demonstrated experience in using initiative to solve problems.
  5. Demonstrated experience in conflict resolution.

Desired Criteria: 

  1. Knowledge and/or experience in the education or employment services industry
  2. Experience and knowledge of working with Aboriginal organisations

About Us 

Nirrumbuk Aboriginal Corporation (NAC) is a Broome based community organisation.  Managed and owned by Aboriginal members, our board consists of 12 Indigenous people from Broome and the Dampier Peninsula.  Our primary objectives are to build the capacity of the Aboriginal Community and individuals in the region by fostering self-sufficiency with a key focus on health, housing, education and employment.  Established in 1993, NAC is registered as an Australian Public Benevolent Institution and not-for-profit organisation.

WHAT WE OFFER

A total base salary of $80,000 per annum plus super, depending on your qualifications and experience.  Five (5) weeks Annual Leave per year and generous Salary Packaging benefits are also offered. As NAC is a Public Benevolent Institution and a remote area employer, we are able to offer salary packaging to employees based on individual circumstances.
